The Boys From County Hell

Calne’s, and quite possibly the UK’s best tribute act to The Pogues come to town this Friday night at the Bell By The Green.

The Boys From County Hell are trading on past glories as a new line-up take to the stage, featuring a new drummer and guitarist / backing vocalist (Their previous members emigrated and are too busy, respectively).

The boys are famous for a lot of reasons, not only their re-arranging of “Dirty ol’ Town” to “Dirty Ol’ Calne” (Didn’t see that one coming, did you? Eh?). Even so, the band perform 2 hours of high octane foot-stomping, Irish jig music with whisky-soaked vocals and beer-drenched shirts. Their backdrop is a shamrock, their t-shirts are green, you catch the drift right? It’s every Irish cliché in the book with a pint-sized leprechaun thrown in for good measure!
