Sheer Music is super excited to confirm that Swindon based metallers, The Dead Lay Waiting, will headline the merchant’s suite stage at Devizes Corn Exchange on Friday June 17th, as part of Devizes Festival‘s Local Showcase Gig.
This comes as good news, after local legends Quarterblind were forced to pull out due to drummer complications. Quarterblind are said to be gutted they couldn’t headline their home town again, on the biggest stage possible at the top of the scene.
The Dead Lay Waiting will hit Download Festival on Sunday 12th of June, and release their new album on the 13th to celebrate. This comes in wake of their nomination’s for Kerrang! for “Best British Newcomer” and Metal Hammer “Best UK Underground Band”. Impressive stuff, and we haven’t even mentioned the 23 date UK and European tour that went on during April and May.
This is an important step forward for Devizes – if we can impress a band of that calibre, there’s no telling what other bands we could get through the town, something I’m keen to develop if the right bands come up for grabs. But in order to do this, we have to impress The Dead Lay Waiting and Bristol’s Kid Carpet first.
