A massive thank you to all that came to the show last night. I’ve never done a gig in Devizes on a Thursday before, so that was a real treat. A lot of new faces too, probably down to Decades out-of-town draw and all the locals heading off to Sonisphere, which reminds me GOOD LUCK TO DECADE who hit the Jagermesiter stage at 4pm (in half an hour!)
Despite the Corn Exchanges over priced hire and security costs, I didn’t lose a penny – which can’t be bad. AND I got a whole bunch of CD’s from bands, thanks to Smile, Look Alive – who absolutely slayed and felt much more at home on a bigger stage than the usual toilet circuit. Decade’s CD too was out and on offer, despite racking up some serious plays on my iPod I still took a copy. And a cheeky little mention to Sell Your Sky, who’s front man(?) came, paid and enjoyed the night, handing me a CD as he left, asking to play – Sir I salute your efforts, I will certainly sort a show out for your band later in the year!
There will be a review of the show out on Thursday, via the Gazette. Get in touch with me if you want to write it, otherwise it will be handed over to Secret Squirrel for the writing duties…
We all love free music, and none more so than any under 20 year old clutching an iPod, who didn’t realise that music wasn’t free, so I’ve hunted down some download links for acts who are due to play for us in the following month, starting with personal favs….
Little Leagues – 3 tracks / 1 ep + single from bandcamp – this band are playing in August with Sailors, it’s similar epic indie rock. Do check out!
Sailors – 3 track ep from bandcamp – now 4 piece techy’ indie rock, complex, hooky and cool!
Canals – 3 song demo from bandcamp – excellent indie rock, who hit the same night with Sailors and Little Leagues in August, get excited now!
Borto – 2 EP’s from bandcamp – Swindon based electro, hip hop, funk, minimalist groove music. Under the radar in Swindon, so we’re going to give him a Devizes welcome. Superb stuff, and something a little different! Playing on Saturday July 23rd at The Lamb.
Next local gig is Ian James’s marathon night, where 6 acts hit the stage in one night… Check out the facepage.
Street Orphans come and headline the Corn Exchange, Chip Daddy makes a guest appearance, This Sudden Injury stick out like a sore thumb, Jess Branson gets all intimate, Year Of The Thief open and Hybrid Town tell us about their album… Busy night, get involved! NO CHEAP LIST FOR THIS SHOW, just a flat £4 – isn’t that cheap enough?
Cheers guys, see you around.
