OK I’ll keep this brief, but it is probably not a huge surprise to many, but this incessant rain has called an end to Rowdy Fest 2012.
I need to say this wasn’t an easy thing to announce. Elizabeth Frearson, head of our committee has resigned from her post at Rowdeford School over a lack of support over all this, and I will look like a complete fool too all the bands I approached or approached me about playing.
A MASSIVE thanks to everyone who dedicated their time and effort for this festival thus far, to those who were booked to be involved on the day, all the bands who were due to perform, all the contractors due to supply equipment and all the stalls who were due to provide food, drink and neat stuff.
Here is the email from the School Head and site officer, who pulled the plug on the event.
We are very sad to have to inform you that having conducted a site inspection this afternoon we have no choice but to cancel Rowdyfest on Saturday. Unfortunately, the ground is already waterlogged and the weather forecast promises more rain throughout the week. The state of the grounds will make car parking impossible and since there are no alternative options for parking no other solution could be found.
We are enormously indebted to Elizabeth Frearson for the huge personal effort that she has made, despite all of the barriers that have been put up and to her hard-working committee.
This inclusive festival promised to be ground-breaking. It has already promoted the work of the RCT and the School to entirely new areas within the wider community and created an enormous amount of goodwill and interest.
The School and Trustees will explore options for rescheduling it.
With best wishes,
Ingrid and Jonnie
