Traditional English folk music in Hillworth Park. 30/09/2012

Last Sunday I had the pleasure of engineering Georgian period style, folk / classical 4 piece, The Regency Belles in Hillworth Park’s new pavilion Cafe.

Inspired by the Jane Austin books, the band take their music direct from the 16th Century, often transcribing it themselves, to perform proper dance music – all big, heavy, floaty, dresses and girls in corsets, with gents in their best boots.

The performance is made up from a Cello, Flute, Violin and are led by Sue Law on the Piano. Sue marshals the wide span of ages of the musicians who play with her with aplomb – often playing traditional dances of which have in the past notably included Bath Pump Rooms Jane Austin Ball and for Celebrity Master-chef.
