Trad folk. Like, knit-your-own-breakfast folk.

I don’t tend to go this far into traditional folk style, with a few exceptions, but when you’re offered a stripped back duo from an already successful act, by the sister of one of your favourite acts, you can’t really turn it down. Even Bob at Devizes Folk club gave it a positive nod of his approval.

So, let me present to you Devizes & all our recent further-afield friends, KIT HAWES & AARON CATLOW.

The guitar and fiddle duo, whose usual day job is in Balkan Folk / Gypsy Jazz band SHEELANAGIG from Bristol, have recently released the album The Fox, which received rave reviews from fRoots and R2 this month.

They came into my inbox via Jaz Delorean’s sister, who happens to be a booking agent and as thoroughly lovely as her brother!

Here’s what the press have to say  “Rip-roaring violin, guitar and vocals.” – Larmer Tree Festival

“Not just any old violin and acoustic guitar duo… THE violin and acoustic guitar duo.” – The Bristol Post

These shows have a beautiful way of making connections, and after announcing this, I had two local musicians contact me to say that Kit Hawes was once their guitar teacher, so I invited one, Ali, to open the show – *no pressure* then.

Ali Finneran is an ex-Swindon, then London now back in Wiltshire, singer song writer. We’ve always been a supporter of his music, but he’s been away for a while, maturing in the big smoke – recently been seen supporting Adam Norsworthy & being reviewed in Blues In Britain (you can buy me a beer when I see you)

OK, enough of the sale, you all know what we’re about, you’ve *probably* been to The Lamb, you will certainly know of it’s fierce reputation for quality live music, which is always busy, so why not watch this video below of the duo performing live, so you know they can deliver and I’m not over egging things!

9 – 9.30 – Ali Finneran
9.45 – finish – KIT & AARON.
