More 90’s indie: GOMEZ come to town.

After the recently and ridiculously successful shows for Mark Morriss (The Bluetones) and Mr B The Gentleman Rhymer (Collapsed Lung) I thought I’d continue the 20-years-of Britpop vibe, with BEN OTTEWELL, one of 3 singers & a Mercury Prize winner in GOMEZ.

I genuinely have no idea what Ben will be performing, but I’ll hazard a guess that it’ll come from across his career as a soloist, along with classic Gomez tunes too. Or I won’t be paying him. But what I can guarantee is another classic voice we all listened to at length in our teens, right in front of your faces.

NB. It wasn’t until this very moment, that I realised how similar Ben’s voice is to Shaun Buswell’s…

Tickets are flying out with 32 gone online already, and a dozen more in the venue, meaning we’re not far short of selling out, so if you want to come you’re encouraged to get in quick. A huge thanks to everyone who has picked up already, it means a lot!

Support for the show comes from Swindon based blusey surf rocker, JIM BLAIR, aka Hip Route. Jim last played the venue wayyy back in February supporting Gary Stringer from Reef. The show was off the scale, as bare foot, Jim lay down some slide and lap guitar and took the roof off the venue. It was a stunning performance worthy of a headline slot in his own right, nevertheless he’s supporting again, and here’s a recording of said show; (ignore the feedback around the 1:20 mark yeah?)

Opening the show is BLIND GRANDMA’S JOE. Or Joe Edwards to his friends. Or simply Joe to Grandma. Joe is another bluesey wee laddo, who regularly plays around the country, but rarely plays round town, this is a shame as he is ridiculously fun!
