Tellison announce tour & Trowbridge date

Greeting pop pickers, today I have pleasure of sharing with you the Tellison mini-tour, poster and live audio of the last time we worked with them.

For those who don’t know, Tellison are a BSM / Alcopop!, 4 piece band from London. Ploughing an indie-rock furrow, with choruses designed at gang chanting, that has received such plaudits as “a wonderful sense of hope, regret and youthful abandon” – KERRANG!, “This band deserve your love” – Rock Sound and “Tellison deserve to rule the world.” – The Fly.

We’ve loved Tellison for some time now, having caught them on Kevin Devine’s full band tour a few years ago. In fact for the Alcopop! 10 Year Anniversary show, Gareth Nichols and I mixed & recorded their entire set, you can hear a track on the Sheer Soundcloud.

Tellison open this brief tour in Trowbridge at the Village Pump. Possibly our most ambitious show in such a small venue. (Well, we did do Alpha Male Tea Party there, so perhaps not!). The tour also includes a show at Manchester’s Punk Festival, that’s also set to include Tom Aylott, so we felt it appropriate to invite Tom to open the show.

It’s also our first Trowbridge co-pro with our brother-from-another-mother, Hit Or Miss Pomotions aka Mr Rob Dahl aka Mr Cheese & Grain aka The Daddio, friend of all the popstars!

Tickets are available through our usual provider, WeGotTickets here http://www.wegottickets.com/event/429484

All Roads Lead To fRome #3 – First announcement, early bird and give away!

THE SHOWS JUST KEEP ROLLING’

This time, it’s our annual Love-In with “Hit Or Miss” shows aka Rob Dahl aka, MR Buckfast.

Date for your diary is Saturday 23rd June 2018, at the Cheese & Grain, Frome.

This is an uber special initial announcement, not only because we haven’t announced the headliners and already this is a strong line up, but also because Blueneck are doing something special.

For those who don’t know them, let me introduce Bristol based, EMI-signed, much-bigger-in-Europe-than-in-blightly BLUENECK are one of those seminal bands that came out just before Thought-Forms but trod a similar postrock, avant garde path.

ARLTFI was first introduced to them by then Moles venue manager, Steve Wheedon back in 2004, who gave me their album, Scars Of The Midwest. It blew me away, around the same time I was getting into bands like Youthmovies, Hope Of The States, iLikeTrains and the like.

ANYWAY, I digress, as for this show only, they will be performing their seminal 2nd album “The Fallen Host” in it’s entirety. Better still, the first 200 ticket holders will receive a FREE copy of the CD album too. So your £10 goes a long way…

Which reminds me, early bird tickets are £10, until we announce our headliners, at which point they’ll revert to £15. Tickets can be purchased via this link on the CAG website, https://cheeseandgrain.ticketsolve.com/shows/873584400.

OK, so the rest of the line up is equally as exciting. After being booked to perform last year and falling sick at the 11th hour, we finally mark the belated welcome to Heartwork. I promise he won’t play every Swindon pop punk show this year, but he’s been due a show way out west, and has promised to turn up this time.

Marking his first show for Sheer (and his first for Hit Or Miss)  in years, in a rarer than hens teeth full-band performance, we’re delighted to announce that BEN MARWOOD will be performing the acoustic stage. Thinking about it is already bringing a tear to my eye. I cannot wait for that.

Lastly completing this initial announcement is underground EMO hero, Brightr (formally Gnarwolves tour manager) and noise juggernauts Deaf Horse from Bristol.

So there you have it. I hope that was as exciting for you, as it was for me. Many thanks to Rob Dahl for the late night no-you-hang-up, phone conversations, we’re onto a winner this year!

Sheer Music Presents… Dave McPherson

Waaayyyy Haaayyyy it’s that time of year again!

We like to have Dave McPherson at least once a year, and shortly after our Turner show in January, we open our Trowbridge account for the year by having the InMe front man headline the coolest little slice of venue in town.

Last time Dave played for us was in this very venue, supported by the wonderful Oxygen Thief. We have plans for Barry to return in March, so there will not be a repeat of a line up. Instead we’re welcoming Ravetank over from Bath for the first time and Heartwork over from Wales. Heartwork seems to be going from strength to strength, so fingers crossed 2018 will be an even bigger year for him.

What a banger of a line up that is, if I do say so myself.

We’d really love you to come hang out with us at this show to further strengthen the affinity between Dave and Sheer, as we really want to book InMe this year too, so like…. come show him some love!!

Luckily Dave has never played either a quiet show or a bad show for us, hence the friendship we share, but putting it out there that we want to push on and bring in the big one, can’t be a bad thing.

So, what do you need to know?

Friday 9th February 2018
@ The Village Pump, Trowbridge (aka The Lamb)
Doors 8pm.
8.45 – 9.15 – Ravetank
9.30 – 10 – Heartwork
10.5 – fin. – DAVE McPHERSON.

Tickets £5 adv. or £7 otd.
WeGotTickets – http://www.wegottickets.com/event/423768

Normal rules apply, we like our shows to be inclusive and open to the next generation of live music fans, as such, if you’re 14+ you’re welcome to attend – just don’t go trying to lig! Oh and The Lamb in Trowbridge aka the Village Pump has excellent Wheelchair entry, so, roll up without fear.

Sad Song Co. returns to Wiltshire.

No sooner has the dust settled after Frank Turner announced his Level III show in Swindon, another member of the band is announcing their Wiltshire return. Cue Nigel Powell aka Sad Song Co and quite possibly the nicest drummer we’ve ever met (we’re still holding out on meeting Dave Grohl one day…) rocking up at The Lamb in Devizes on February 16th.

Nigel is the former drummer in 90’s rock band, the Unbelievable Truth, 00’s Noiseniks Dive Dive and most recently seen at the stool in the Sleeping Souls (who need little introduction here.) (Note: those with really long memories will remember Nigel dragging his drum kit into the crowd when Dive Dive tore Devizes apart on their debut album tour…)

You may also remember that Nigel played as Sad Song Co in Chippenham last year at Old Road Tavern, which was a lovely show and came with some excellent supports (Non Canon & Mike Barham). The attendance was excellent and the show just fantastic.

This 4th solo album “Worth” was recorded by Graeme Stewart (Radiohead) and mixed by Chris Kasych (Adele, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young etc) which is due for release the same week as this gig & tour, so  you can guarantee that for a brief period, all eyes will be on Nigel from our scene! And if like me you’re pining for Chris T-T *still* rest easy, as Chris provided lyrics for the album. I won’t ruin which track, just see if you can figure it out.

OK, so tickets for the show are available from WeGotTickets priced £6.50 adv. £7.50 otd, and this venue is 14+.

Doors 8pm.
8.45 – 9 –
9.15 – 9.45 –
10 – 10.45 – Sad Song Co.
