Throughout May, Abe Juggins and I are hosting the Devizes Festival showcase warm up shows, at The Bell By The Green in Devizes. These are a bunch of stand alone shows, which, fingers crossed will show the strength of the local scene.
The nights are themed, so we’re putting bands who compliment each other together, with the first show on May 10th being a waltz through metal and hardcore, including an anticipated headline set from HOMELAND.
Friday May 17th, I am excited to say, will now feature SOMEWHAT SNAKES, a new local, punk band whose EP I reviewed a week or so ago (scroll down).
You can find out about all these gigs on the GIGS tab to your right, or head over (and join) our Facebook page, and look through the events tab there too!
Devizes based clothing apparel Dead Note Attire, created and run by Homeland.‘s Ash Clark, will be sponsoring a stage at the Devizes Festival Showcase event on June 14th.
DNA will be sponsoring the second stage, which is being booked / programmed by Abe Juggins and will feature the heavier bands. Special guest head liners will be, Aldershot based punk/metal band, XII Boar.
Merch will be available at the event, but Homeland won’t be playing – You can catch Homeland though, on Friday April 26th at the Bell By The Green, opening for London based legends, PALEHORSE.
The Devizes Festival Show Case event, each year represents the best in fresh, local music – I pride myself in giving local musicians their first tentative experiences of “big(ger) gigs” in the town’s largest (and cleanest!) venue.
This year I have teamed up with the areas best heavy / metal promoter ABE JUGGINS, who will be programming his own stage, down in the basement of The Corn Exchange.
The second stage, sponsored by local t-shirt printing, merch designing and clothing apparel DEAD NOTE ATTIRE, will be headlined by Aldershot based, groove ridden, rock n’ roll / metal band XII BOAR. Fans of Clutch, White Knuckle Bride and Down will find a lot here to enjoy!
The band have previously had music feature on the cover mount CD’s of magazines such as Metal Hammer and Terrorizer, describe themselves as “Combining Motorhead’s swagger, Sabbath’s downtrodden doom, and the swinging crunch of C.O.C”
You can download a FREE 4 track taster EP direct from their <BANDCAMP>, though I always encourage you to pay…
Here’s an official video to whet your appetites…
I LOVEit when within the scene some one springs up and does something unexpected – so step forward Ashley Clarke, guitarist in City May Cave, for your unexpected plunge into the world of clothing.
Ash got from old Mr Santy Claus screen printing apparatus and never looked back. The name of the venture is the appropriately titled Dead Note Attire, which is refreshing as it doesn’t have the word “Apparel” in and is almost suggestive at Smart – with the word attire.
You can check his stuff on the facebook link, and there are offers to have merch stands at gigs, I offer my gigs as a platform too Mr Clarke. Ash has or is about to complete an art course at Chippenham college, and this really shouldn’t be a surprise, as he has proven himself to be very arty, dedicated and capable in the past, so I’m sure he will make the most of this new direction.
I also assume the band is there for still full steam ahead? Lets hope so. Click “like” on Facebook to get some discounts on the gear.
